New Approach’s admirable son Potemkin won his seventh Group race on Sunday, 20 September in the G3 Premio del Piazzale in Milan. Run over 1700m, he was not hard pressed to record a three-and-a-quarter length victory.
The winner of the G1 Premio Roma in 2016, Potemkin has now won 16 of his 33 career starts with more than £500,000 in prize money.
Bred by Stiftung Gestut Fahrhof, Potemkin is a son of the Stakes-placed mare Praia (Big Shuffle) and a half-brother to the German Stakes winner Paraisa.
New Approach has now sired eight Group winners in 2020 including wide-margin G2 Grand Prix de Deauville hero Telecaster and G1-filly Magic Lily. He also has two Group-winning juveniles this season in Mac Swiney and New Treasure.
