New Approach adds a new Black Type winner in style

Three-year-old colt Sameem lands Listed Glasgow Stakes by three lengths

Sameem became the latest Stakes winner for his sire New Approach on Friday, 19 July with a convincing victory in the Glasgow Stakes, run over 11 furlongs at Hamilton Park.

The James Tate-trained three-year-old was always in front, racing keenly during the early stages. Asked for his effort two furlongs from home, Sameem soon moved clear and kept on superbly to win by three lengths. The race has produced some high-class horses in the past, including Dubawi’s four-time G1 winner and young Darley stallion Postponed, another multiple G1 winner by Dubawi in Hunter’s Light, plus this year’s G1 Coronation Cup winner Defoe.

Sameem is out of the G2-placed Listed winner Ahla Wasahl (Dubai Destination), a half-sister to the dam of G1 winner Menhoubah.

New Approach is sire of 12 Black Type performers so far in 2019, including G2 Dante Stakes winner Telecaster, plus G3 winner and G2-placed colt Flop Shot. Last weekend, his progressive son Jalmoud took third in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris.
