Irishcorrespondent, now racing as Exultant, added a third G1 Stakes victory to his record at Sha Tin when taking the Champions & Chater Cup on Sunday, 26 May. The consistent son of Teofilo settled behind the leaders before unleashing a final surge to seal victory by over a length.
Previously trained by Mick Halford, Irishcorrespondent was third in the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas before transferring to Tony Cruz who has now clocked six Group wins with the son of Teofilo.
Bred by Ballygallon Stud, Irishcorrespondent is the fourth foal out of the winning Mark Of Esteem mare Contrary. She is a half-sister to the Group-winning sprinters Spirit Quartz and Caspian Prince.
Teofilo is the sire of 16 top-flight performers including Irish Derby victor Trading Leather, dual G1 winning filly Pleascach and last year’s Melbourne Cup hero Cross Counter.
