Nations Pride, a son of Teofilo, returned to the winners enclosure on Saturday, 1 March when landing the G2 Singspiel Stakes at Meydan. Run over 1800m, he was always prominent and battled gamely in the straight to beat Holloway Boy, with First Conquest (also by Teofilo) back in third.
Now the winner of 11 of his 21 career starts, Nations Pride has won a G1 race in the previous three seasons; the Saratoga Derby in 2022, the Canadian International and Bayerisches Zuchtrennen a year later, and the Arlington Million last year.
Bred by Godolphin, he is out of the Oasis Dream mare Important Time, a Listed winner in Germany as a four-year-old. Important Time also has a juvenile colt by Ghaiyyath, who like Nations Pride, is in training with Charlie Appleby.
Nations Pride is one of 19 G1 winners sired by Teofilo, and he has sired a G1 winner each and every season since Parish Hall won the Dewhurst back in 2011. Standing this season at a fee of €30,000, he is also broodmare sire of eight top-flight scorers including Mac Swiney, Cachet, Coroebus, Ezeliya and Inisherin.
