The Etymology rejuvenation continued at Warwick Farm on Monday when the six-year-old added a second Stakes win to his race record when taking out the Listed Australia Day Cup on 28 January.
Given a perfect run by jockey Kerrin McEvoy, Etymology had the race won 400m out duly cruised to an effortless victory.
Etymology’s latest win followed two successes at Flemington, the latest a length win in the Listed Bagot Handicap on New Year’s Day.
It also provided further confirmation that the six-year-old had returned to the form he had shown as a three-year-old when the son of New Approach had run in four Derbies and was placed in two and was also placed in the VRC St Leger.
The win adds another credit to New Approach whose 2018 was highlighted by the Derby win of Masar at Epsom.
Etymology is one of 42 Stakes winners for his sire who will stand the coming stud season at Dalham Hall Stud, Newmarket at a fee of £30,000.
