Teofilo’s four-year-old daughter Bloomfield has been a wonderfully consistent performer and on Wednesday, 9 May, she added a second straight Stakes win to her record when landing the Listed Vintage Tipple Stakes at Gowran Park.
Settled just off the pace under Billy Lee, Bloomfield was always travelling well and once asked to quicken, soon took up the running and kept on superbly to win by two lengths. Glamorous Approach (New Approach) put up another solid performance to take second, some five lengths ahead of Remarkable Lady in third.
Trained by Michael Halford, Bloomfield won by over three lengths on her racecourse debut last June, before finishing second in the Listed Naas Oaks Trial later the same month. She rounded off her 2017 campaign with a second in the G3 Give Thanks Stakes and gained a well-deserved first Black Type win on Sunday, 15 April this year when landing the Listed Noblesse Stakes.
Bloomfield was bred by John Connaughton and is out of the unraced Desert King mare Ramona, also dam of G3 winner Prima Luce. They hail from a family packed with Stakes winners, as Prima Luce is a half-sister to Cassandra Go – herself dam of three-time G1 winner and outstanding producer Halfway To Heaven.
Bloomfield becomes the third Stakes winner in less than a week for Teofilo, whose son Key Victory landed the Newmarket Stakes on 2,000 Guineas day, followed on Sunday by Irishcorrespondent’s dominant win in the G3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup at Sha Tin.
Teofilo stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €40,000, Oct 1 SLF.
