New Approach’s son Mount Logan made it three wins from three starts at Goodwood on 21 May with a tenacious victory the Listed Tapster Stakes.
Settled off the early pace under Andrea Atzeni, Mount Logan began to loom up as the field entered the home straight and pushed all the way to the line by Sweeping Up, dug in deep and eventually won by a neck. This was the fifth career victory for Roger Varian’s charge, who was making his seasonal debut today.
Bred by Ladyswood Stud and Canning Downs Stud Aus, Mount Logan is out of the Distant View mare Vistaria, a full sister to multiple G1 winner and sire Observatory.
Mount Logan becomes the 13th individual Black type performer so far this year for New Approach, who is also sire of Royal Ascot-bound recent G2 winner Beautiful Romance.
