Progressive Teofilo filly lands the Blue Wind Stakes
Teofilo’s purple patch continued apace on 13 May when he recorded an eye-catching double at Naas racecourse.
First came Round Two, who was making his racecourse debut and could not have made a better start as he swept past previous winner Argentero to land the six furlong contest by a length and a quarter. This was the same race which Dawn Approach won three years ago and Round Two will now follow the same route as him, with a trip to Ascot for the Coventry Stakes now on the cards.
Bred by his trainer Jim Bolger and now running for Godolphin, Round Two is out of the winning Kingmambo Stakes winner Khazina, herself a daughter of G1 winner Easy Now.
An hour later, one of Teofilo’s daughters threw herself into contention for many of this summer’s top-flight contests as Pleascach romped home to win the G3 Blue Wind Stakes. She holds entries in the Irish Guineas, which her trainer (also Jim Bolger) indicated could be a possible target, together with the Ribblesdale Stakes and the Irish Oaks.
Pleascach was bred by Jim Bolger and is out of Toirneach (Thunder Gulch), a half-sister to Stakes winner Capomorano and from the family of great racemare Spain.
Teofilo is now sire of 20 individual Black type performers in 2015, headed by G1 winner Kermadec and fellow Group winners Tamaanee and Flight Risk. He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000 October 1st SLF.
