Juvenile Group winner for New Approach
New Approach, sire of Classic winners Dawn Approach and Talent, sired a new Stakes winner on Sunday when his juvenile son Elliptique landed the 1800m G3 Prix de Conde at Longchamp. Held up near the rear off the strong early pace, he closed just before the straight and then asserted 200m from home to win going away. A debut winner at Deauville, this was his third piece of Black type after excellent placed efforts behind Ectot at Deauville and Longchamp.
Owned and bred by the Rothschild Family, Elliptique is out of the Stakes-placed mare Uryale and is a half-brother to Stakes winner Cicerole.
Elliptique becomes his sire's tenth Stakes winner and his second from his second crop, after the highly-rated Flying Scotsman winner Be Ready (rated 114p by Timeform). The sire of a European Champion Juvenile, a 2,000 Guineas winner, an Oaks heroine and a Derby second from his exceptional first crop, New Approach will be joined on the Darley stallion roster next season by his son Dawn Approach, who will be retiring to Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
