Dawn Approach maintains his perfect record in style
Dawn Approach emulated his sire New Approach in scintillating fashion and reconfirmed his position as favourite for next year’s 2,000 Guineas, landing the G1 National Stakes by no fewer than five lengths to remain unbeaten.
Settled off the early pace under Kevin Manning, Dawn Approach travelled superbly throughout and once asked to quicken, soon hit the front and from then on the result never looked in doubt as he cruised to victory.
Dawn Approach, who is trained by Jim Bolger and owned by Godolphin, was New Approach’s first ever runner, making a successful racecourse debut back in March. He reappeared in May with a wide-margin victory at Naas, before successfully stepping up in class to take the Listed Rochestown Stakes on 4 June before becoming the first of a trio of Royal Ascot winners for his sire when landing the G2 Coventry Stakes.
Bred by Jim Bolger, Dawn Approach is the second winner out of Hymn Of The Dawn (Phone Trick). She is a half-sister to G1 performer Galantas and is from the family of G1 winners Miss Oceana and Kitwood.
New Approach is sire of seven winners to date, including fellow Black type winner Tha’Ir, who finished a creditable third in today’s G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.
