New Approach recorded a new two-year-old Group winner on Saturday, 22 August when his son Mac Swiney took the G2 Futurity Stakes, run over seven furlongs at the Curragh.
Jim Bolger’s charge was settled in second position under jockey Kevin Manning, before being asked to quicken in the home straight. Mac Swiney battled superbly to get up just before the line and win by half a length.
This was his second career victory, having won over the same course and distance last month.
Mac Swiney was bred by his trainer and is one of two winners out of the Teofilo mare Halla Na Soire, a full sister to G2 winner and Irish Derby third Light Heavy. This is also the family of Teofilo’s Dewhurst winner Parish Hall.
New Approach is now sire of six Group winners in 2020, including fellow G2 winner and G1 Jebel Hatta second Magic Lily, plus G2 Dubai City Of Gold victor Loxley.
