New Approach’s three-year-old son Darlington Hall won his first Stakes race on Sunday, 16 February when landing the G3 Kyodo News Hai at Tokyo. Always prominent in the 1800m contest, he showed tenacity to just get the better of a prolonged duel with runner-up Bitterender, the pair four-lengths clear of the third.
Bred by Canning Bloodstock Ltd and purchased as a foal for 70,000gns, Darlington Hall is out of the Pivotal mare Miss Kenton, who hails from the extended family of G1 Melbourne Cup hero Cross Counter (Teofilo).
Darlington Hall becomes New Approach’s second Group winner in four days, after Magic Lily was victorious in the G2 Balanchine at Meydan, her second G2 win of 2020.
New Approach is standing this season at Dalham Hall Stud for a fee of £30,000 Oct 1 SLF alongside his Derby-winning son Masar, who is covering his first mares for £15,000.
