Taany, a four-year-old daughter of Teofilo, swept to a ten-length victory to clinch her first Stakes title in the G3 Premio St Leger Italiano run over 3000m in Milan, Italy on Saturday,23 November.
Trained by Luciano Vitabile, Taany has now won six career starts, including a five and a quarter length win in Milan last weekend. This consistent filly has also placed three times on Listed contests.
Bred by Shadwell Estate Company Ltd, Taany is one of three winners out of the winning Dubawi mare, Aghaany, herself a daughter of Stakes victrix, Hathrah.
Taany became Teofilo’s ninth Black Type winner so far this year. They are headed by his G1-winning son, Nations Pride, who landed the Arlington Million and also include Naval Power who was successful in the G2 Singspiel Stakes, Alegron (G2 Brisbane Cup) and Alessio, who won the G2 Oleander Renner earlier in the year.
Three of Teofilo’s 24 individual G1 scorers are winners of the Melbourne Cup – Without A Fight (who landed the Caulfield/Melbourne Cup double last year), Cross Counter and Twilight Payment.
Teofilo stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €30,000, Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
