The best performance of her career to date carried four-year-old New Approach filly Gogo Grace to a decisive victory in the G3 Bow Mistress Stakes in Hobart on Friday, 9 February.
Gogo Grace came from the second half of the field with a furlong and a half left to run to overwhelm her opposition and run away to a four-and-a-half length win.
Trainer Leon McDonald welcomed the win which he said came as no surprise, saying “She can do a few things wrong, but when she puts it together she is hard to beat in this class. Tonight she put it together”.
Gogo Grace is the first foal to race out of the Stakes-winning Monolith mare Starmon, who is from the family of outstanding producer Cotehele House, dam of multiple G1 winner Danewin and late Darley stallion Commands.
New Approach enjoyed a very successful year in 2017, with 26 individual Black Type performers, including G1 juveniles Masar and Magic Lily. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £30,000, 1 October, Special Live Foal.
