Teofilo notched his fifth individual winner on Friday June 10 when his son John Lightbody was an impressive debut winner over seven-furlongs at Sandown. A big, imposing individual, he settled in second behind a strong early pace before staying on determinedly to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths.
Owned and bred by Netherfield House Stud, John Lightbody is a half-brother to three Black-type horses including the three-time Stakes winner Mashaahed. His dam, Patacake Patacake, has also recently been confirmed in foal to fellow Darley stallion New Approach.
Now sire of five individual winners, Teofilo has made an excellent start at stud. Teolane became his first Stakes winner at Naas earlier in the week (and now heads the betting for next seasons 1,000 Guineas), while his impressive Maiden winner Mezmaar, who is rated 94P by Timeform, appears in the five-day entries for the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot next Tuesday.
