New Approach added a new Black Type winner to his record on Saturday, 4 May when his three-year-old son Jalmoud landed the 12-furlong Prix de l’Avre at Longchamp.
Charlie Appleby’s charge was settled in second position under Olivier Peslier and was still cruising with two furlongs left to run. Once asked to quicken, he soon moved up to take the lead, before being briefly headed by eventual second Soft Light (Authorized), but battled impressively to cross the line a neck in front.
Impeccably bred, Jalmoud is out of the English and German Oaks winner Dancing Rain, who has already enjoyed racecourse success with New Approach courtesy of G1 Fillies’ Mile third Magic Lily. Dancing Rain has a two-year-old filly by Dubawi.
New Approach, sire of last year’s Derby winner Masar, has now sired five Stakes performers in 2019, including last weekend’s King Richard III Stakes winner Hey Gaman.
New Approach stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £30,000, Oct 1, SLF.
