Germany’s big race on Sunday 31 July, the G1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis, proved to be a Darley-sired benefit as the first three home were all sired by stallions on our European roster. Leading the charge was the Andre Fabre-trained Elliptique, a dual Group-winning son of New Approach, who got the better of a protracted duel with Royal Solitaire (Shamardal) in the straight with another son of New Approach, Potemkin, in third, with a length covering all three.
Owned and bred by the Rothschild Family, Elliptique is out of the Stakes-placed mare Uryale and a half-brother to Stakes winner Cicerole.
New Approach has now sired five top-flight winners including his first-crop stars Dawn Approach and Talent. After Dawn Approach’s thrilling 2,000 Guineas triumph, New Approach was sent his best ever book of mares, and they are at the yearling sales this coming Autumn, where they are joined by the first-crop of his Classic-winning son.
