Cap O’Rushes becomes the latest winner for leading first-season sire New Approach

Godolphin colt romps home by eight lengths on his debut to provide his sire with five winners

New Approach, Europe’s leading first-season sire, looks to have another exciting juvenile in the making in the form of Cap O’Rushes, who broke his maiden at the first time of asking in the most impressive fashion on 20 August, winning by no fewer than eight lengths over a mile at Kempton.

Soon sent to the front by Silvestre de Sousa, the Godolphin colt was in command throughout the race and once asked to quicken, eased clear and extended his lead all the way to the post to win in style.

Bred by Darley, Cap O’Rushes is out of the G1-winning Shirley Heights mare Valley Of Gold, who is now dam of nine winners including UAE-bred G3 winner Splendid Era (Green Desert).

New Approach is also sire of the unbeaten Coventry Stakes winner Dawn Approach, plus fellow Royal Ascot Stakes winners Newfangled (who is also unbeaten and due to reappear in the G2 Lowther Stakes this Thursday) and Tha’Ir.
