Bosphorus glory for Connecticut
Twenty four hours after Tha’Ir had won the Listed Anatolia Stakes, another son of New Approach appreciated the Turkish air when his four-year-old Connecticut ran out the winner of the G2 Bosphorus Cup. Trained in GB by Luca Cumani, he had made a sensational seasonal debut at Pontefract when winning the Listed Pontefract Castle Stakes by 16 lengths before a good run at Glorious Goodwood.
Bred by Whatton Manor Stud and out of the winning Slip Anchor mare Craigmill, Connecticut is a half-brother to 11 other winners including Stakes performers Fleurie Domaine and Castleton.
New Approach has been enjoying tremendous recent success with his juvenile colt Herald The Dawn winning the G2 Futurity Stakes, his three-year-old filly Beautiful Romance landing the August Stakes at Windsor by a wide margin and Ceisteach, Elliptique, Tha’Ir and Waldnah all winning Group or Listed races in the past couple of months.
