Romantic Proposal, a six-year-old daughter of Raven’s Pass, made light work on her seasonal debut this evening when easily landing the five-furlong Listed Woodlands Stakes at Naas on Monday, 25 April.
Having won the G1 Flying Five Stakes in 2021 and ending the year as Champion Older Female Sprinter in Europe and Ireland, the Clipper Logistics Group Ltd-owned filly now looks likely to be targeted at either the G1 King’s Stands Stakes or G1 Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot.
Sitting mid-field, the Edward Lynam-trained filly travelled well throughout and under a hands and heels ride from jockey Chris Hayes, she quickened easily in the final furlong to win going away.
Romantic Proposal, bred by Fastnet Stud Ltd, is out the Diktat mare Playwithmyheart, herself is a half-sister to Toylsome, a G1 winner and Champion 3yo Sprinter in Germany.
Breeders Cup Champion, Raven’s Pass, the sire of 38 individual Stakes winners to date, is also broodmare sire to Group performers such as Mishriff, Saffron Beach, Kessaar and Dubawi Legend. His best son, Tower Of London, a Champion sprinter in Japan and rated 125 by Timeform, stands at Darley Japan.
Raven’s Pass stands at Kildangan Stud, Co Kildare for €7,500, Oct 1st, Special Live Foal.
