Australia's leading second-crop sire, Exceed And Excel continued to prove on Saturday that he is stallion force of the future when siring a trio of Group performers in Australia.
Already G1 placed this season when third in Spring Champion Stakes behind Sousa, Excelltastic maintained his consistent record when running second in the G2 Yalumba 160 at Caulfield. He has now only ever been unplaced once in a ten race career.
Bred by Darley Australia, he is a close relative of US G1 winner, Dreams Galore. His dam, Fantail also has a two-year-old and a foal by Elusive Quality and a yearling by Dubawi.
At Rosehill, two-year-old filly Sunday Rose gained her first Black-Type on only her second start when finishing second in the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes.
A winner on her debut at Canterbury, she was bred by Princes Farm, out of the winning Marscay mare, Moon Cha Cha and is a half-sister to Stakes placed filly Moonboat.
Over at Morphetville, recent Tasmanian Listed scorer Mrs Kipling ran second in the G3 Marsh Breeders' Stakes. Bred by Mrs CB Remond and running in the colours of Plantation Stud she is out of the Royal Academy mare Dora Maar and a relative of Australian G1 winner Easy Rocking and Hong Kong horse of the year Fairy King Prawn.
From only two crops of racing age in Australia, Exceed And Excel has now sired nine Stakes winners and 19 Stakes performers including recent G1 winner Reward For Effort.
Other notable performances from Australia on Saturday included the Lohnro colt Merimbula running third in the Listed Supremacy Stakes at Ascot on his debut. Bred by Mrs Goodyer, he is the first foal of winning Danehill mare Mirimba Belle.
Strategic colt, Desuetude maintained his record of never being unplaced at Rosehill when finishing third in the G2 Hobartville Stakes. This was the seventh start for the Woodlands Stud bred colt who is out of the winning Unbridled's Song mare, Martella.
Shamardal, responsible for his first Black-Type placed runner a fortnight ago in Marquardt, sired his third individual winner when Premardal won the 1100m Plate at Ascot. Bred by Darley Australia, she a close relation of Champion Arazi and multiple G1 winner Noverre.
