Dubawi landed the G2 Superlative Stakes 20 years ago, and on Saturday 13, July he sired his third winner of the race through his juvenile son Ancient Truth. Going into the race unbeaten in two starts, the Charlie Appleby-trained charge wasn’t hard pressed to record a one-and-a-half length victory.
It was Charlie Appleby’s fifth winner of the race that included the sons of Dubawi, Quorto and Master Of The Seas, plus unbeaten Champion juvenile Native Trail.
Owned and bred by Godolphin, Ancient Truth is the second foal of G2-winning juvenile Beyond Reason (Australia), whose first was the multiple winner Great Truth, fourth in the same race last season. Beyond Reason has been tested in foal to Space Blues this season.
Dubawi is now the sire of 14 Group winners in 2024, more than any stallion in the world. They include four that have won at the highest level. His three-year-olds Notable Speech and Ezeliya were the thrilling winner of the 2,000 Guineas and Oaks, Rebel’s Romance has won G1’s in both UAE and Hong Kong, plus Master Of The Seas landed the G1 Maker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland in April.
