Too Darn Hot recorded a new juvenile Group winner in sensational style on Thursday, 25 July when two-year-old colt Hotazhell ran out the very impressive winner of the G3 Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown.
Hotazhell was settled in second position under Shane Foley behind pacemaker Swagman for much of the seven-furlong contest. Making his move once inside the final two furlongs, he took the lead just after the furlong pole and quickened impressively close to home to win by a length and a half.
Hotazhell, who is trained by Jessica Harrington, broke his maiden at the Curragh last month and could well step up in class again as he holds entries in the G2 Futurity Stakes and G1 National Stakes. He was sold for 200,000 guineas at this year's Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale.
He was bred by Blue Diamond Stud and is the fourth winner out of the winning Danehill Dancer mare Azenzar, who is from the family of multiple G1 winner Alexander Goldrun.
Too Darn Hot is now sire of 10 individual Stakes winners in the northern hemisphere, headed by G1 Moyglare Stud and G1 Irish Guineas heroine Fallen Angel. In the southern hemisphere, he is sire of outstanding multiple G1 winner Broadsiding.
