Dubawi’s three-time G1 winning son, Lord North, made a successful return to the racecourse on Saturday, 25 February with victory in the ten-furlong G3 Winter Derby Stakes at Lingfield, adding a sixth Stakes race to his already impressive c.v.
Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Lord North was settled just off the pace by Robert Havlin for most of the race, he was then pulled wide for a run entering the straight and soon outclassed his rivals to go clear and win by an easy three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Lord North will now head off to Dubai towards the end of March where he will attempt to win a third G1 Dubai Turf over nine furlongs at the Dubai World Cup meeting.
Bred by Godolphin, Lord North is out the Giant’s Causeway-mare, Najoum, herself a half-sister to G1 victor Bandini and G3 Sweet Solera winner Discourse who is the dam of Stakes winning filly, Discursus.
Champion sire, Dubawi, recorded his 250th individual Stakes winner last week, of those 164 are Group winners with 53 winning at the highest level. So far this year, Dubawi has had 9 Stakes scorers including G2 victors Valiant Prince, Master Of The Seas and Al Suhail.
