Night Of Thunder’s superb first season continued on Friday, 23 August when his son Molatham put up a tremendous performance to take the valuable Convivial Maiden, run over seven furlongs at York.
Roger Varian’s charge was always travelling well under Jim Crowley and once produced with just over a furlong left to run, battled brilliantly to take the lead inside the final furlong and eventually win by a neck from Celtic Art.
Molatham was second on his debut at Ascot late last month, finishing just a neck behind Mums Tipple, the runaway winner of the sales race, also at York, yesterday. A step up in class is now likely for this promising colt.
Molatham was bred by Cheveley Park Stud and is out of the winning Pivotal mare Cantal, already dam of a Black Type winner in multiple Listed winner and Group-placed filly Perfection.
Night Of Thunder is now sire of 15 individual winners, including G3 winner Under The Stars and Listed winner Thunderous.
