Estrange flies home to victory in the Listed Gillies Stakes

Night Of Thunder sires a new Stakes winner as his daughter impresses at Doncaster

Estrange was an impressive new Stakes winner for Night Of Thunder as she took a step forward in her career with a commanding victory in the 10.5f Gillies Fillies’ Stakes, on the final day of the flat season at Doncaster on Saturday, 9 November.

Trained by David O’Meara, the three-year-old filly, who is owned by Cheveley Park Stud, travelled smoothly in the back division under James Doyle, she made good progress with three furlongs to run and finding plenty in the closing stages, she hit the front with half a furlong to run and drew clear to score by an easy length and three-quarters.

The grey filly made a good impression on her debut in August as she broke her maiden with a five and a half length win at Goodwood.  She is now the winner of two races from three starts.

Bred by A Stroud, T Stewart and J Hanly, Estrange was a Tattersalls October Yearling Book 1 purchase.  She is a daughter of the unraced Oasis Dream mare, Alienate, herself a half-sister to Champion Stayer, Logician and G3 winners Suffused and Okeechobee.

Night Of Thunder has enjoyed another successful year as Estrange became his 18th individual Black Type winner so far this year.  His juvenile daughter, Desert Flower, was the brilliant winner of the G1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket last month and is an exciting prospect for next year’s Classics, whilst his three-year-old son, Economics, progressed through the ranks with victories in G2 Dante Stakes and Prix Guillaume d'Ornano followed by a thrilling win in the G1 Irish Champion Stakes.
