Coming into the race on the back of a victory in the G3 Pinnacle Stakes, Dubawi’s progressive daughter Bateel went one grade higher in style when landing the G2 Prix de Pomone. Run over 2500m at Deauville, she was held up in her customary style and when asked for her effort in the straight, she quickened though the gap on the rails to win readily. Lightly raced for a five-year-old, she has now won six of her 11 starts.
Bred by Al Asayl Bloodstock, Bateel is the second Stakes winner to be produced by the Chief’s Crown mare Attractive Crown after the Prix Charles Laffitte heroine Basemah. A winner in both Ireland and the US, Attractive Crown was also placed in the G2 Pretty Polly Stakes.
Dubawi has sired 14 individual Group winners this year, plus a further four Black type winners and 15 horses who have been placed at Stakes level. They are headed by a quartet of G1 winners in Zarak, Nezwaah, Almanaar and Sobetsu.
