Dubawi’s very progressive four-year-old son Dartmouth landed his third straight Group race on the final day of Royal Ascot when gamely taking the G2 Hardwicke Stakes. Coming into the race on the back of victories in a brace of G3’s, he got the better of a prolonged duel in the straight with Highland Reel, the pair pulling over three lengths clear of the third Almodovar.
Dartmouth is one of three Stakes winners out of the Galileo mare Galatee including last seasons G2 Grand Prince de Chantilly winner Manatee. From the extended family of Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Arcangues, Galatee also has a yearling filly by Dubawi and is in foal to the same stallion again this season.
Dartmouth is one of 69 individual Group winners sired by Dubawi and the second on the Galileo mare-cross after the 2,000 Guineas hero Night Of Thunder. He also one of eight Group winners in 2016 that also includes the highest-rated European trained horse Postponed, winner of the G1 Coronation Cup on his latest start.
