Craven Plate to Complacent
Complacent, Authorized's winner of the G1 Spring Champion Stakes and the G2 Chelmsford Stakes last month, added another Black type win to his record on 3 October, defeating fellow Godolphin runner Hauraki (Reset) to win the G3 Craven Plate over 10 furlongs at Royal Randwick.
Jockey James McDonald jumped Complacent straight to the lead and rounding the home turn, settled down to do battle with Hauraki, who had started to make his run down the outside. The pair soon moved clear and Complacent put up a tremendous performance to win by a nose, with three lengths between them and the third-placed horse.
Complacent was bred by Darley in Australia and is out of Insouciance (Quest For Fame), who is in foal to Medaglia d'Oro and produced a colt last season by Teofilo.
Complacent is one of four G1 winners for Authorized, also sire of this year's G1 BMW winner Hartnell, plus Ambivalent and Seal Of Approval - both of whom have won at the highest level.
