German-raider Ashrun, a three-year-old colt by Authorized, landed his second straight Stakes race on Sunday, 4 August when getting on top close home in the G3 Prix de Reux at Deauville. Held up early in the 2500m contest, he made his move in the straight and battled gamely to reel in the long time leader Walton Street (Cape Cross) near the line, with First Nation (Dubawi) back in third.
Ashrun has now won three of his five career starts with today’s victory coming on the back of a Stakes win at Hannover back in June.
Bred by Hans Wirth, Ashrun is a half-brother to G2-winning heroine Ashiana and a daughter of the Stakes-winning Areion mare Ashantee.
Authorized is sire of five G1 winners to date, plus a further nine Group winners including the hugely versatile Hartnell, plus fellow top-flight winner Ambivalent – now dam of Dubawi’s G2-winning son Al Hilalee.
