Dubawi’s three-year-old daughter Journey was stepping up to a mile and a half for the first time on 25 September and she certainly took the increase in distance in her stride as she recorded the easiest of wins in the Listed Nayef Stakes.
Leading almost from the off under a positive ride from Robert Havlin, she was asked to quicken at the final furlong marker and soon moved clear of her rivals, going on to win by no fewer than eight lengths.
This was Journey’s fourth career win, having broken her maiden at Newbury in June, before winning the Listed Upavon Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury in record time last month.
Owned and bred by George Strawbridge, Journey is out of the G1 Prix Royal Oak winner Montare, also winner of two G2 contests during a very successful racing career.
Journey is one of 27 individual Stakes winners for Dubawi so far this year, an outstanding group that includes an incredible ten G1 winners.
