Sky High win for Hartnell
Highlighting his class with a half-length second to stablemate Contributer on his Australian debut in the G1 Chipping Norton Stakes last weekend, four-year-old Authorized gelding Hartnell dropped back in class and returned to winning ways in fine style, charging clear to win the G3 Sky High Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
Travelling forward to sit handy, in stark contrast to settling at the tail of the field last time out, jockey James McDonald kept Hartnell travelling comfortably and as the home turn was reached, he pulled from behind the leader and surged clear to win by two lengths.
Bred by Darley, Hartnell is the second Stakes winner for the winning Anabaa mare Debonnaire, a half-sister to the Stakes performers Dramatic Quest and Proceed With Care. A half-brother to Teofilo’s G1 filly Roz, Hartnell’s pedigree also includes the G1 winners Suave Dancer and Zavite.
The sire of 20 Stakes winners including G1 winners Ambivalent, Seal Of Approval and Complacent, Authorized stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €10,000 (October 1st SLF).
