Outstanding Dubawi filly Wuheida, last seen winning the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, made a faultless seasonal debut on Sunday, 6 May with an easy win in the G2 Dahlia Stakes on 1,000 Guineas day at Newmarket.
Settled just off the pace under William Buick, the four-year-old moved up with around two furlongs left to run and once asked for her effort, eased to the front and was soon clear, eventually winning by four lengths.
This was the third Group victory for Charlie Appleby’s charge, who won the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac as a juvenile. Wuheida raced solely in G1 company last year and never finished out of the first four, rounding off her campaign with an emphatic win at the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar.
Wuheida is out of the dual G1-winning Singspiel mare Hibaayeb, who landed the Fillies’ Mile and the Yellow Ribbon Stakes during her own illustrious racing career.
Dubawi has sired 24 horses who have won or placed at Black Type level so far this year, headed by G1 winners Benbatl and North America. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000 Oct 1, SLF.
