Authorized enjoyed a superb day on Saturday, 4 November when he recorded an outstanding three Black Type winners.
Maygrove added a fourth Stakes win to his record in the Listed Fielding Gold Cup at Awapuni, New Zealand.
Smartly away, Maygrove raced just off the pace for most of the ten-and-a-half-furlong contest and with just over two furlongs left to run, he cruised to the front and held his opponents at bay to win by a neck.
Maygrove is also winner of the G2 Awapuni Gold Cup and the G2 Wellington Cup. Bred by Laurel Oak, he is the best runner to date out of the Zabeel mare Lady Zhivago.
Meanwhile in Australia, Authorized’s son Pounamu added his first Group win when coming from the rear of the field to land the G3 Asian Beau Stakes at Ascot.
Closer to home, four-year-old Authorized filly Permission put up a gutsy performance to take the Listed James Seymour Stakes at Newmarket.
Held up towards the rear under jockey Daniel Muscutt, Permission began to make headway three furlongs from home and despite finding herself short of room close to home, battled superbly to get up and win by a neck.
Bred by Glebe Stud, J F Dean and Lady Trenchard, Permission is out of Continua (Elusive Quality), making her a half-sister to Exceed And Excel’s smart sprinter Cotai Glory.
Authorized’s G1-winning son Hartnell will seek to continue his sire’s winning ways when he lines up in ‘the race that stops a nation’, the G1 Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, 7 November.
