Darley freshmen Blue Point and Too Darn Hot have enjoyed tremendous success with their first runners this year, with the former now atop the European first-season sire table and the latter the quickest to sire three Group winners for 20 years.
On Thursday 31 August, both added new winners and both with runners making their debuts with victories for Francis Meynell at Navan and Bauhinia at Paris-Longchamp.
Francis Meynell (Blue Point), who sold for 125,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up, made practically all in the five-furlong maiden at Navan, powering home to win by three quarters of a length.
He was bred by the Dame Hester Partnership and is a half-brother to three Black Type performers including German Champion Donnerschlag and Listed-winning Stakes producer Izzy Bizu.
Meanwhile at Paris-Longchamp, Godolphin homebred filly Bauhinia earned TDN Rising Star status when demonstrating an impressive turn of foot to land the one-mile Prix de Cascade at Paris-Longchamp. Andre Fabre's charge holds an entry in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac.
Bauhinia is out of the G2 Rockfel third Desert Blossom (Shamardal), making him a three-parts brother to Stakes winner and Group performer Duneflower (Dubawi).
Blue Point now equals the record for the number of winners by 31 August at 31, while Too Darn Hot’s trio of Group winners is the best for any first-season sire in the past 20 years.
