First-season sire Epaulette recorded a new winner in impressive style on 24 May, when his son Chookie Dunedin won at the first time of asking at Ayr.
Soon in front under jockey Dougie Costello, the Keith Dalgleish-trained colt dictated the pace throughout the six-furlong contest and professional throughout, Chookie Dunedin kept to his task superbly to win by a head from the fast-finishing Bustam.
Chookie Dunedin was bred by D and J Raeburn and is out of the multiple winner Lady Of Windsor, now dam of no fewer than seven successful runners including Black type winner Chookie Royale. They are from the family of Lowther Stakes heroine Miss Demure.
Epaulette, also sire of French winner Fas le Fios, won the Black Opal Stakes and was second in the G2 Todman Slipper Trial at two. He went on to take the G1 Golden Rose in record time and the G1 Doomben 10,000, finding only Black Caviar too good in the G1 T J Smith.
Epaulette stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €7,000 October 1st SLF.
Also at Ayr on Wednesday, Dubawi's four-year-old daughter Nezwaah took the feature contest of the day, the ten-furlong Listed Rothesay Stakes.
Settled in third position under Andrea Atzeni, Nezwaah had to be switched wide two furlongs from home but once in the clear soon opened up a big lead with Roger Varian's charge eventually winning by three and a quarter lengths.
Nezwaah won her first two starts (both early last year) en route to a decisive victory in the Listed Hoppings Stakes at Newcastle last June. She will now head to Royal Ascot, where a tilt at either the G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes or G1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes beckons.
Nezwaah is out of the Listed winner Ferdoos (Dansili), herself a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner and Group performer Brusco.
Dubawi has now sired 12 individual Black type winners so far this year, headed by G1 winners Sobetsu and Almanaar. He is also sire of recent Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth, plus Irish 1,000 Guineas hopeful Bean Feasa.
