Teofilo’s juvenile son Naval Power remained unbeaten on Saturday, 3 September when winning the Listed Ascendant Stakes. Run over a mile at Haydock, the Godolphin-owned colt had to wait for a run in the straight before quickening clear for a one-and-a-quarter length victory.
Now unbeaten in four starts, Naval Power had previously won the Listed Winkfield Stakes over seven furlongs at Ascot.
A Godolphin homebred, Naval Power is the fourth foal out of Dubawi’s winning mare Emirates Rewards, who is herself a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup hero Outstrip.
Teofilo is enjoying a magnificent 2022 with G1 victor Nations Pride one of 11 Stakes winners. He has been the broodmare sire of the English 1,000 Guineas (Cachet) and 2,000 Guineas winners (Coroebus), G1 Preis der Diana heroine (Toskana Belle), German 2,000 Guineas winner Maljoom, and G1 Prix d’Ispahan victress Dreamloper.
Later in the day, Iffraaj sired a new Stakes winner when his three-year-old daughter Copie struck in the Listed Fillies Cup over 1400m at Baden-Baden in Germany. Owned and bred by Wertheimer Et Frere, she was winning her fourth career start and gaining her first Black Type.
