Authorized’s son Maygrove has won his second Stakes race with victory in the G2 Awapuni Gold Cup (2000m) at Awapuni on April 2.
Maygrove settled back in the field on a heavy 10 surface, but made his run out wide 600m from home under jockey Matthew Cameron and prove too strong for second-placed Trojan Warrior, who made a bid for victory but could not get past the five-year-old gelding.
Trained at Cambridge by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Maygrove took his record to six wins from 32 starts, his biggest success being the 2015 G2 Wellington Cup (2400m).
Bred by the Laurel Oak Lady Zhivago Syndicate in Australia, Maygrove is out Zabeel mare Lady Zhivago, a multiple metropolitan winner in Australia, who is from the family of Sydney Stakes winner Phrases.
Authorized is the sire of 26 Stakes winners, among them four G1 winners in Ambivalent, Hartnell, Seal Of Approval and Complacent.
Authorized stands at Haris du Logis, Normandy, for a fee of €10,000 October 1st Special live foal.
