Two-year-old Helmet filly Limestone has staked her claim for next month's six-furlong G1 Blue Diamond Stakes with a fast-finishing victory in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview, run over five furlongs at Caulfield on 26 January.
The Darren Weir-trained filly, who was ridden by Damian Lane, was able to angle for an inside run and hold out her main danger Tulip to win the G3 race and provide her sire Helmet with his third individual Stakes winner.
Bred and raced by Hesket Bloodstock, Limestone is out of five-time winning Charge Forward mare Limerock, a half-sister to Listed-winning Reset mare Warpath.
Limestone joins G1 Criterium International winner Thunder Snow - Britain's highest-rated juvenile of 2016 - and G3 Red Anchor Stakes winner Archives as Stakes winners for Helmet who will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £10,000 Oct 1, SLF.
