Darley’s ever-consistent stallion Exceed And Excel has recorded another landmark victory thanks to the win of Resin in the G3 The Nivison at Randwick on Saturday, 20 October.
Resin’s impressive win was the 150th at Stakes level for her sire who this month sired his 1300th winner.
A sprinter of the highest calibre, Exceed And Excel has sired such outstanding horses in Australia as Guelph, Earthquake and Helmet as well as the G1 Golden Slipper winner Overreach.
In Europe, his most notable winners have been Excelebration, whose greatest success came in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and Breeders' Cup hero Outstrip, whose first-crop are yearlings of this season. He is also the sire of G1 Nunthorpe Stakes winner Margot Did.
Exceed And Excel becomes the second Australian-bred stallion to ever sire 150 Stakes winners.
Resin is a daughter of the talented Lonhro mare Beaded, the winner of the G1 Doomben 10,000.
Resin was the second Group triumph in the space of 24 hours for Exceed And Excel after Hit The Bid's victory in the G3 Mercury Stakes at Dundalk on Friday evening in Ireland. The consistent four-year-old has now won three Stakes races after the G3 Curragh Stakes as a juvenile and the Listed Midsummer Sprint Stakes.
