Kildangan Stud opens its doors on Thursday 22 January, when its ten stallions will be paraded for breeders from 11am to 3pm with commentary from Robert Hall of RTE.
Among those on show are first-season superstars Ramonti and Raven's Pass (pictured), the former a five-time G1 winner and the latter the record-breaking Breeders' Cup Classic winner.
Also new to Kildangan in 2009 are Authorized and Shirocco, both of whom stood at Dalham Hall Stud last year. A G1-winning juvenile, Derby winner Authorized covered a top-class first book in 2008 that included 40 Stakes winners or producers. Meanwhile, Shirocco's first foals have been very well received, averaging €55,000 - 3.7 times his covering fee, more than any other first-season stallion.
Also on parade will be Europe's leading first-season sire of 2008, Kheleyf as well as Refuse To Bend, who has started off his stud career in fine style, siring 16 winners and more Timeform runners rated 80+ than Galileo, Montjeu and Pivotal had at the same stage of their careers.
Other stallions to look out for are Iffraaj, Shamardal, who had the highest yearling average of all first-season sires, Teofilo and, of course, Kildangan stalwart Cape Cross, sire of the great Ouija Board and 2009 Derby fancy Sea The Stars.
All are welcome at the stud, which is in Monasterevin, Co Kildare. For further information, please contact Mick Buckley on +353 (0)45 527600
