Idea Generation runs away from her rivals in Saratoga’s G2 Flower Bowl Stakes

Dubawi filly never threatened on way to earning first Graded Stakes win

Idea Generation shot to the front right out of the starting gate and never looked back on her way to cruising to an easy one-and-a-half length victory in the G2 Flower Bowl Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, 31 August.

The four-year-old daughter of Dubawi, who tallied her first Graded Stakes victory in the Flower Bowl, now boasts a record of two wins and two second place finishes in seven starts. The race, which was part of the ‘Win and You’re In’ series sponsored by the Breeders’ Cup, earned Idea Generation an automatic berth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar in November.

Considered to be a pacemaker for her stablemate, McKulick, in the 11-furlong turf contest, Idea Generation was allowed to open up a considerable lead on her rivals, as she led the field on a merry chase through the opening mile. Idea Generation continued to hold her advantage through the far turn and into the stretch, where the favorite, War Like Goddess, put in a late rally but could do no better than second. McKulick finished third.

Idea Generation was bred in Ireland by Epona Bloodstock and is out of the Galileo mare, Knocknagree, a half-sister to Champion and G1 winner, Zoffany, and to Graded/Group Stakes winners Rostropovich and Wilshire Boulevard.

Dubawi is having an excellent season, siring more Stakes winners than any other European stallion. His four G1 winners this year include two Classic winners in Notable Speech (2,000 Guineas) and Ezeliya (Oaks), plus globetrotters Rebel’s Romance who has won G1s in both the UAE and Hong Kong, and Master Of The Seas, winner of the G1 Maker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland.
