Authorized is off the mark in fine style following the first-time-out win of Tamarrud over a mile at Lingfield on Saturday. Given a good lead by his stable-mate Lionrock, Tamarrud was always to the fore in the 11-runner contest and cruised easily to the lead in the straight, to fend off the challenge of runner-up Gassin Golf.
Bred by Darley, Tamarrud is out of the Gone West mare Miss Hepburn and hails from the family of St Leger winner Rule Of Law.
Peter Chapple-Hyam, the former trainer of Authorized, unleashed another promising newcomer, Everlong, by the first-season sire at Newmarket. He finished runner-up to Godolphin's Minidress (by Street Cry) on the July Course.
Authorized, the brilliant winner of the 2007 Derby, did not make his juvenile debut until September and won the G1 Racing Post Trophy on only his second start.
