Elite Army marches home
Elite Army, a three-year-old son of Authorized, made it three wins from four starts in tremendous style when flying home to win the King George V Stakes on the third day of Ascot’s Royal meeting.
Never far from the pace under Kieren Fallon, the Godolphin colt (trained by Saeed bin Suroor), looked to be short of racing room as the field quickened from home but under a patient ride, soon quickened once the gap appeared and he ran on superbly to win by three quarters of a length. His trainer indicated after the race that a step up in class to Group level is now on the card for this promising colt.
Bred by Darley, Elite Army is out of the Group winner and G1 German Oaks second White Rose, already dam of two Black type performers. White Rose has a 2014 filly by Manduro.
Authorized is sire of nine individual Stakes performers so far this year, including G1 Dubai Sheema Classic and G1 Coronation Cup third Ambivalent (already a G1 winner), plus G3 winner and G2 performer Daksha.
