Amazona, one of 32 Stakes winner sired by Dubawi in 2016, landed her first Group contest on Sunday 6 November when taking the G3 Niederrhein Pokal at Krefeld. The four-year-old filly, who is trained in Germany by Jean-Pierre Carvalho, was quickly away from the stalls and never saw another rival, going clear at the top of the straight before holding off the late challenge of Palace Prince. This was her second Stakes victory of the year after her triumph in the Listed Grand Prix Aufgalopp at Cologne back in March.
Owned and bred by Gestut Schlenderhan, she is a daughter of the German Oaks heroine Amarette, who hails from the family of recent G1 Melbourne Cup winner Almandin. Amarette also has a yearling colt by Exceed And Excel.
Now the sire of 75 lifetime Group winners, Dubawi has also sired this season the top-flight scorers Postponed, Erupt, Journey, Left Hand and unbeaten juvenile filly Wuheida. He will be standing this coming season at a fee of £250,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
