Tabbed a TDN Rising Star last November when making his debut at Aqueduct, Demarchelier, by Dubawi, remained undefeated on 1 June in capturing the G3 Pennine Ridge Stakes at Belmont. Street Boss's son Social Paranoia finished third. Demarchelier's other win came at Keeneland Racecourse on April 12.
Jockey Javier Castellano settled the bay three-year-old in sixth down the backstretch but began asking his mount for more as the field reached the final turn. Although having to go widest of all, Demarchelier made a strong, steady move down the stretch and got up in the final strides giving his sire his 111th Group or Graded winner.
Bred by Newsells Park Stud in Great Britain, Demarchelier is out of the unraced Sadler's Well's mare Loveisallyouneed, a half to Irish Champion Yesterday and multiple Irish Champion Quarter Moon. Quarter Moon is the dam of G1W Diamondsandrubies and Grandam of G2W/G1-placed Eminent.
Dubawi's daughter Anna Nerium won the G3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom several hours before Demarchelier annexed his first Group win. Dubawi has now sired a world leading 21 Stakes winners in 2019. This includes 15 that have scored at Group level including Old Persian, Ghaiyyath, The Revenant, Plumatic and Lah Ti Dar.
