Bande storms to five-length Stakes victory
Bande, a four-year-old son of Authorized who was third in last year’s G1 Japanese St Leger, added a first Stakes win to his record in tremendous fashion on 10 August when taking the Sapporo Nikkei Open by no fewer than five lengths.
Soon in front under jockey Kosei Miura, Bande was never troubled by his rivals and eased clear once entering the home straight for a wide-margin victory. This was his fifth career win and today’s victory takes his earning past the £800,000 mark.
A trip to Australia is now on the cards, as he is entered in the G1 Caulfield Cup, due to run on 18 October.
He was bred in Ireland by Kildaragh Stud and is out of the winning Priolo mare Logica, making him a half-brother to multiple G1 winner Doctor Dino.
Authorized, who has three G1 winners to his name, is also sire this year of G2 Middleton Stakes and G1 Dubai Duty Free and G1 Coronation Cup third Ambivalent (who won last year’s G1 Pretty Polly Stakes), plus G3 Prix Allez France winner Daksha and multiple Black type winner Hartnell – due to make his reappearance in the G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes later this month.
