World leader Dubawi further cemented his position as one of the greatest stallions of all time when, on Thursday 6 March, he reached a new milestone – siring his 295th individual Black Type winner.
This astounding number of high-quality performers moves him clear of Sadler’s Wells, with only Galileo and Danehill ever siring more.
The winner, three-year-old filly Aududon Park, maintained her perfect record with a facile victory in the Listed Prix Rose de Mai at Saint-Cloud. Francis-Henri Graffard’s charge took the 10-furlong contest by four lengths under Christophe Soumillon to take another step closer to the G1 French Oaks, in which she holds an entry.
Dubawi’s Stakes-winning offspring include no fewer than 60 G1 winners, plus a further 131 Group winners.
His legacy is now firmly established through his 15 stallion sons at stud in Europe (six of whom stand on the European Darley roster: Ghaiyyath, Modern Games, Naval Crown, Night Of Thunder, Space Blues and Too Darn Hot), but he continues to exceed himself at the highest level.
Notable Speech was his fourth 2,000 Guineas winner last year, making him the Classic’s most successful sire since the start of the Pattern. He was also sire in 2024 of the globetrotting superstar and Eclipse Award winner Rebel’s Romance, who notched his 11th Group win on Super Saturday, plus Oaks heroine Ezeylia and fellow G1 winner Master of the Seas.
