First-crop sire Pinatubo continues to gain momentum as we head into Autumn with his latest winner coming on Monday, 16 September through Al Jafara. Making her second career start after a debut fourth, she wasn’t hard pressed to record a one-and-a-quarter length victory in the 1800m contest.
Bred by V. I. Araci, Al Jafara is the second winner bred out of the Fastnet Rock mare Predawn, a sister to Oaks heroine Qualify, who this year has produced a Group-winner from the same Shamardal sireline with Swing Vote.
Now with 13 individual winners, Pinatubo sired a double last Thursday with Hallasan landing the £300,000 sales race at Doncaster, and wide-margin Newcastle scorer Basalt. He is also the sire of three Stakes performers through Wolf Of Badenoch, Cavallo Bay and Qilin Queen.
