Having her second run back from a spell, five-year-old Shamardal mare Premardal followed the exact same path as 12 months prior, taking the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic over 1400m at Ascot, Australia, on December 3.
Jumping away well from the barriers, the Todd Harvey-trained mare worked across from a wide gate to take the lead under carrying the top weight. Always having the race well within her grasp, the mare skipped clear rounding the home turn to record her third career Stakes victory, scoring by three-quarters-of-a-length.
Bred by Darley Australia, Premardal is out of the Rainbow Quest mare Prestigious, a three-quarter-sister to four-time G1 winner Arazi and a half-sister to G1 winner Noverre. Prestigious has a two-year-old full-sister to Premardal named Flattery and has recently foaled a bay colt to Darley Australia stallion Denman, a G1-winning son of fellow Darley stallion Lonhro.
The sire of 33 Stakes winners highlighted by G1 winners Zazou, Faint Perfume, Lope De Vega, Captain Sonador and Cassamento, Shamardal will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
